The North
Including Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Garachico, Bajamar & surrounds
Whilst generalising a little we like to divide the different Remote Working Communities into three different areas. The South is the busiest area for Digital Nomads on the island. The North is the original area for Remote Workers on the island. And the Capital Area, based around the capital of Santa Cruz, is a growing area for Remote Workers who want to come to the island but still have a cosmopolitan lifestyle.
In our focus on the Northern area of Tenerife, you could say this is the most authentic part of the island, with far more history than the southern tourist areas of the island. It houses historic towns like La Orotava, which houses only one of two historic centres on the whole island.
It’s also a lot greener in the north, with slightly higher rainfall and cloud coverage but still a fantastic year-round climate when you compare it to the rest of Europe. You will also find a little more Canarian culture and people in the North, with more Canarians living in this area.
For Digital Nomads visiting this part of Tenerife, it is the original community of Remote Workers on the island. It is known for having the highest number of Colivings and self-contained communities and the oldest most established Colivings here. There is magnificent hiking, rough and rugged surfing beaches and endless nature to enjoy here.
